The Center for the Blue Economy is associated with the Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) and supports the program’s concentration in Ocean and Coastal Resource Management. Students in the Ocean and Coastal Resource Management concentration have many unique opportunities to participate in research projects for the Center for the Blue Economy, as well as gaining real-world experience working with prestigious government agencies, businesses, and NGOs around the world. The Center for the Blue Economy offers fully-funded Summer Fellowships with top marine organizations, and students have paid fellowship and internship opportunities throughout the academic year with leading local and international organizations. Additional educational and networking opportunities are offered through the seven-campus Center for Ocean Solutions MARINE network, with each campus offering lectures, special courses, and seminars open to our students. Graduates of the International Environmental Policy program consistently receive Fulbright Awards, Sea Grant Fellowships, and top jobs in the ocean and coastal resource management field. Graduates with the Ocean and Coastal Resource Management concentration have done very well in the job market, with approximately 90% currently employed in the ocean and coastal resource management field.
